Jesse Ross is a contemporary fine art photographer born December 23, 1972 in Crescent City, CA and is based presently in Tacoma, Washington, U.S.A. He has lived and worked as an artist for over 10 years in home bases such as Prague, Czech Republic, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Opatija, Croatia on the Adriatic Sea, utilizing the variety of cultural outlook, and physical settings as informers and expanders of his artistic and intellectual vision.
Ross is a process based artist who considers his photographic works more closely related to painting than to traditional photography. His style is rooted firmly in the abstract as a powerfully subjective expressive force while he subtly imbues his work with references to historical photographic motivations, never abandoning the premise of the documentary power of the captured real world image. But his documentation has primarily to do with a highly personal viewpoint, expounded through film as if each work were a poem, which placeholds for a connection from the personal toward a larger societal context.
