The black and white series of Clothespins edits proves a variety of initial previsions and illustrates alternate emphases. Minimally composed, the image is both avant-garde and intimate, a global experience while still a scene of personal domestic dynamism. Clothespins have often been a motif as can be seen in color in the artist's Hanging Laundry as well as in another domestic black and white photograph called Shadow of Cat, Chair, with Clothespin.
